Memberships for the business community and restaurant owners of Vibo Valentia are now open

The Chamber of Commerce of Vibo Valentia continues to organize a tight schedule of events – with experts and the catering personnel of Vibo Valentia – in order to promote the Mediterranean Diet in accordance to the food model originating in Nicotera and the adherence to the corresponding trademark, as a guarantee for a high quality cuisine offer and in accordance to the well-established typical criteria.

Following the training days set up by the Chamber in the last few months with the aim to disclose the practices on the licensing procedures for the use of the trademark "The Italian Reference Mediterranean Diet - Nicotera" and after the final lay down of the Regulation for the Use and the Specification on the Geographical Collective Mark, the Chamber of Commerce operates to promote the approval and participation of the local business community to the trademark itself and of the diffusion of a healthy cuisine offer and in accordance to the model originating in Nicotera, in conformity with a food style recognised by UNESCO as an intangible world heritage. In the past few days the first applications have been gathered by the Chamber of Commerce, during a dedicated technical meeting. The meeting has also been a chance to update in details all the participants on the promotional tools that the Chamber of Commerce is about to make available for the best enhancement of the Mediterranean Diet of Nicotera and of the enterprises adhering to the corresponding trademark. We are talking in particular of the Web site and of an Information Guide where will be illustrated the characteristics features of the Mediterranean Diet, the local typical dishes in accordance with it and the local business community adhering to the mark. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ornella Ortona, responsible of the project of the Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Vincenzo Ienuso, and President of the homonym Association from Nicotera, Dr. Antonio Romeo for Dintec, and Society of the Chamber of Commerce in charge of the realisation of the project itself.

The local business community and the restaurant owners and all those interested to adhere to the Collective Mark in order to be a qualified party of the circuit of the Italian Reference Mediterranean Diet -Nicotera, can present their application by sending the request directly to the Association of Nicotera or by the Chamber of Commerce of Vibo Valentia, by means of the dedicated form on the institutional website of the Chamber of Commerce or on the reference website

A dedicated Commission of assessment, established by the Association of Nicotera, will perform all the required controls and, once ascertained all compliances, will proceed to the licensing of the Collective Mark of the Reference Mediterranean Diet of Nicotera.

This will then be the beginning of a process of recognition not limited to a diet originating in the territory, but also of the superior quality enterprises who propose it and also of a high quality, differentiated, typical, gastronomic and touristic offer.


The project

The Chamber of Commerce of Vibo Valentia has gained over ten years experience in the promotion and protection of food products typical of the area vibonese. Since 2000, numerous projects were initiated to protect important productions of the gastronomic culture of the area - such as Pecorino del Monte Poro, the Mostaccioli of Soriano, the Tartufo of Pizzo, the 'Nduja of Spilsby, the roe of tuna - representative of the typical Calabrian food.
