The Chamber of Commerce promotes the Italian Reference Mediterranean Diet of Nicotera. One day training for the restaurant owners has been organised.


The actions of the Chamber of Commerce of Vibo Valentia for the promotion of the Mediterranean Diet according to the food model originating in Nicotera continue. After filing the mark by the Ministry of Economic Development, in co-operation with the Association for the Promotion of the Reference Mediterranean Diet - Nicotera, educational and training courses offer have now been established to enhance its disclosure and to appreciate the local offer for wine and food.

The Chamber of Commerce organises, in fact, at this regards, a day of technical training for the restaurant owners in the province of Vibo Valentia, with the aim of disclosing the practices on the licensing procedures for the use of the trademark "The Italian Reference Mediterranean Diet - Nicotera", thus enhancing all those local restaurants enterprises who wish to be characterized by a typical and quality cuisine offer.

The training day has been fixed for the next 4th of May - from 9.30 to 13.30 – by the training room of the Chamber of Commerce of Vibo Valentia.

The Regulation for the Use and the Specification on the Geographical Collective Mark "The Italian Reference Mediterranean Diet" will be illustrated and explained in this occasion as well as the obligations imposed on the operators interested in being part of the circuit of the specific Trademark.

To take part to the training day it is necessary to fill in the registration form specially designed – which could be downloaded from the website – and send it by fax to the 0963/294631 by the next 20th April at the latest.

The attendance is completely free. The first 30 operators who will send the form will be admitted to participate based upon the chronological presentation of the applications in accordance with the procedures established.

The project

The Chamber of Commerce of Vibo Valentia has gained over ten years experience in the promotion and protection of food products typical of the area vibonese. Since 2000, numerous projects were initiated to protect important productions of the gastronomic culture of the area - such as Pecorino del Monte Poro, the Mostaccioli of Soriano, the Tartufo of Pizzo, the 'Nduja of Spilsby, the roe of tuna - representative of the typical Calabrian food.
